Lab Assistant

Job description

Moab Regional Hospital is seeking one full-time Laboratory Assistant to join our team. The Lab Assistant is the point-person for providing blood draws to patients in a variety of settings, including inpatient units, the emergency department, and outpatients. Blood draws will include venous draws and heel sticks and will be performed on a wide variety of patients, from newborns to geriatrics and all ages in between. The Lab Assistant is also responsible for departmental inventory, including phlebotomy supplies, test tubes, and other items related to the provision of patient care in the laboratory. Other duties include providing test results to the appropriate location(s), faxing and emailing information, answering the phone, ordering tests accurately based on provider orders, and supporting the Med Techs in the lab with other preparatory actions, within the scope of training. Equally as important, though, is that the Lab Assistant is fantastic with people—positive, warm, and customer-service oriented. Our ideal candidate is caring, sympathetic, and soothing to individuals that are scared of needles or of having their blood drawn. The schedule is anticipated to be Mondays-Thursdays, noon – 8:30 pm and Fridays 10:00 am – 6:30 pm.
