Acute Care Services Nurse Manager

Moab Regional Hospital is seeking qualified candidates for the Acute Care Nurse Manager position. This role provides general oversight of the Medical-Surgical (Acute) floor, and skilled program. This position also provides day-to-day supervision of the Medical-Surgical unit. Many responsibilities will focus on the management of, scheduling, and oversight for Med/Surge staffing (30-40 employees), including CNAs, LPNs, RNs, and case managers. This position is expected to work closely with other Nurse and Department Managers to help ensure the highest quality of care for our patients. This is a full-time, year-round, salaried position (40+ hours/week).


Outline of Duties

  • Responsible for the schedule and coordination of staffing within Medical-Surgical department. Track and manage employee hours and allocations.
  • Support effective interdepartmental communication and problem solving.
  • Maintain financial oversight of department, including monthly departmental financials, charge master review/revision, annual budgetary planning, etc.
  • Maintain inventory and medical equipment oversight.
  • Provide employee evaluations, including competency evaluations.
  • Coordinate orientation and on-boarding for new hires within the department. Support ongoing education within the department.
  • Participate in HCAHPS scores and improvement strategies, including QA activities and assignments.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures (inter- and intra-departmental).
  • Support EHR utilization and Meaningful Use scores, including CPOE, medication reconciliation, transition of care, barcode medicine administration, etc.
  • Supplement direct patient care, as needed.
  • Participate in care planning (includes IDT for skilled patients).
  • Promote and maintain effective staff-provider relations.
  • Participate regularly and constructively in a range of regularly occurring meetings.
  • Participate in Nursing Administration call: 3-7 days/month, including one weekend per month and 1-2 holidays (includes Jeep Safari) per year. On-call and call-back wages are included in salary.

Job requirements

Qualifications

  • Active, unencumbered RN license in the State of Utah or compact state, required.
  • Minimum two years general medical-surgical nursing experience, required.
  • Ability to build, maintain, and lead a cohesive work unit in a positive and effective manner, required.
  • Prior experience and high level of comfort with electronic health records, required.
  • Supervisory experience and/or leadership roles in a medical setting, strongly preferred.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification, required.
  • Must be reliable and timely with work schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.
